Technical indicators provide sell signals and until the resistance is not broken the assumption of a decline is most likely. Bollinger bands have stabilized showing a more regular volatility.Gold is currently testing the intermediate resistance of its channel

The gold markets had a positive session on Tuesday as traders came back from extended holiday weekend in the United States. It does appear that the $1700 level is going to offer a bit of resistance, but there is nothing on this chart that suggests that we can get above it. Because of this, a break above that level on a daily close is more than enough to get us to start buying again.
