It's The Disciplined Trader by Mark Douglas. The book is about trading psychology. Why being disciplined is important and how to be disciplined. It's a must read for every trader.

Joining a demo contest for new traders is a bad idea. Just using a simple demo account is a better idea. That way trader can focus on his way of trading without looking for any incentive.

I'll also support the idea that for newbies participating in demo competitions won't bring any use in terms of learning to trade. It may happen that a newbie accidentally wins the contest, but then he'll have a false feeling of being a profi and better than the rest, as a result he'll lose more money than he won by the time he realizes that he's still a newb.
